Law enforcement officials are warning the public about an ongoing phone scam involving jury duty.
The ruse involves a caller claiming to be from local courts or government agencies.
The caller tells victims they’ve missed jury duty or owe fines.
The victim is then threatened with arrest or legal action if immediate payment is not made.
Authorities advise listeners to be cautious and never provide personal or financial information over the phone to unsolicited callers.
Legitimate court officials will never demand payment or threaten arrest over the phone. If you receive such a call, simply hang up.
If you feel you’ve been a victim of a scam, report it to local authorities.
