Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a barn in Wright Township on Wednesday Afternoon.
Waldron Firefighters were dispatched to 9600 Tamarack Road, around 4:00 pm, after the property owner spotted smoke and flames coming from the structure.
Chief Dennis McNett told WCSR News that the 40-by-72 barn was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. They called for assistance from the Hudson, Jefferson Township, and Woodbridge Township fire departments.
The Hillsdale American Legion Canteen also responded to the scene.
The barn housed 191 round bales of hay, along with a quantity of firewood.
Nineteen firefighters were on the scene for around four hours, clearing about 8:00 pm.
They poured an estimated 16,000 gallons of water on the flames.
There were no injuries.
McNett said the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
