The Village of Quincy and Quincy Township have agreed to a 30-day trial period for expanded police services, following township board approval.
The arrangement aims to restore police coverage that was previously provided by the Department from 2014 to 2022.
The township canceled that contract due to budget concerns and perceived inadequate service for its $24,000 annual contribution.
Discussions about resuming the expanded coverage began earlier this summer.
Under the trial, the township will enforce violations and citations issued by Quincy police within township boundaries.
A formal, full-service contract will be negotiated if both sides are satisfied with the results of the 30-day trial.
