Judge Dismisses Charges In Fake Electors Case

A judge has dismissed charges against 15 individuals, including current and former GOP officials, who signed certificates claiming President Donald Trump won Michigan in 2020.
In her ruling in the District Court in Lansing, Judge Kristin Simmons stated that the state failed to prove the defendants had knowingly broken the law or acted with criminal intent.
Simmons said that the case was based on fraud, which requires proof of intent.
The judge said the defendants believed they were acting in accordance with their constitutional duties.
The ruling effectively ends criminal prosecutions in the case.
The defendants included a Cement City man, William Choate, among others from across the state.
