Mackie Updates Council On Personnel Changes

Hillsdale City Manager David Mackie updated City Council members on several personnel changes during Monday’s regular council meeting.
Mackie said Parks & Recreation Director Michelle Loren has been reassigned to support the Department of Public Services, working alongside Director Jason Blake to bolster maintenance and recreation programming.
Meanwhile, Mackie has taken a hands-on role in management at the Board of Public Utilities, following the resignation of Electric Superintendent Jake Hammel back in July. The search for a new Superintendent is expected to take several months, given the position’s technical demands.
To maintain leadership, Communications Director Sam Fry has been promoted to Assistant City Manager and Economic Development Coordinator; he will also continue serving as interim Planning/Zoning Administrator, following the retirement of former administrators Alan Beeker.
Mackie said efforts to fill the Wastewater Superintendent positions are ongoing. An internal candidate is being prepared for certification.
A new City Engineer has been hired; Rob Stiverson will take over the position starting September 22nd.
He’ll replace Kristen Bauer, who resigned in April.
Additionally, the city has added part-time maintenance staff at the Hillsdale Municipal Airport, where Travis Stebelton was hired as Airport Manager, earlier this year..
Mackie said that the changes are designed to ensure operational stability and continued delivery of quality services.
The city has lost five key staff members since early this year, impacting operations across several departments.
