The Hillsdale City Council voted to approve an amended contract with a financial services company that is serving as the city’s Finance Director.
Karen Lancaster, of The WoodHill Group, addressed the council during their meeting earlier this week.
She updated officials on the services that are provided by the company.
Lancaster said the amended contract includes a reduction of $20,000 over last year, as city employees are taking on additional responsibilities in the finance department.
The contract initially had a cap of $120,000 annually. The city is billed only for services provided. Lancaster said the city was billed $75,000 last fiscal year. That’s a reduction of more than $20,000 from the previous year.
City Manager David Mackie told council that Hillsdale is not the only city that is using an outside company for Finance Director services. He said The Woodhill Group is currently serving Marshall and Charlotte, as individual finance directors are in demand and difficult to hire.
Council voted unanimously to extend the contract with The Woodhill Group at the reduced rate.
