800 MHZ Construction Underway

Construction of Hillsdale County’s 800 Megahertz emergency communications system is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
9-1-1 Director Thomas Whitaker updated the Hillsdale County Board of Commissioners on the project earlier this week.
He said crews were expected to begin pouring concrete pylons for the required communications towers this week.
The concrete work is expected to be completed by the end of October. Shortly after that, crews will begin building the towers, which are part of a $ 16 million project approved by voters in August 2024.
Whitaker said the system should be completed by the end of July 2026.
The 800 MegaHertz system is aimed at improving reliability and bringing the county up to date with the latest technology in emergency communications.
