Residents Invited To Join Discussion About Addiction

With many area families dealing with the impacts of addiction, Hillsdale County residents are invited to attend “The Elephant in the Room: A Community Conversation on Substance Use.”

The event will be held on Thursday, October 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Searle Center on the Hillsdale College campus.

It’ll feature data presentations from Hillsdale County Court officials along with personal stories on addiction, stigma, and recovery.

Attendees can learn about local resources, including Medication-Assisted Treatment, peer support, residential treatment options, and non-opioid pain management alternatives.

There will also be sessions on wellness, resource sharing, and the life-saving medication Narcan.

Continuing education credits are available for law enforcement and addiction professionals, along with healthcare and education professionals.

Attendance, lunch, and continuing education credits are free, but registration is required by calling 517-933-3019.
