Hillsdale College Hosts Decoration Day Ceremony

The Marines of Hillsdale College and the Hillsdale College Republicans came together Sunday for Decoration Day, a ceremony honoring the legacy of Hillsdale veterans and military members past and present.
Held at the center of campus, the event featured tributes and moments of reflection.
Dr. Peter Jennings, serving as chaplain, spoke about the importance of service and sacrifice—lessons he says continue to shape the college community today.
The Hillsdale American Legion added a salute, firing three volleys as “Taps” echoed across the historic campus.
At the heart of the ceremony stood the Soldier Statue, a lasting tribute to Hillsdale students who served in the Civil War. Hillsdale College sent nearly 80% of its male students to fight in the war between the states — more than any other college in Michigan.
