Residents Urged To Review Updated Flood Maps

The latest flood risk maps for Hillsdale County are available for review.
The updated Flood Insurance Rate Maps are available online for property owners and community members to see.
The maps show areas that may be at risk of flooding. They’re used to help determine where flood insurance is needed.
A 90-day review period for the maps started on October 31st.
During this time, residents can review the maps and share any concerns or questions. To do so, they can visit the FEMA Flood Map Changes Viewer at msc.fema.gov.
Residents can submit appeals if they believe there are technical errors, such as incorrect road names or boundaries.
Once all comments and appeals are reviewed, FEMA will announce the final maps.
Most homeowner policies don’t cover flooding, so residents are encouraged to talk with their insurance agents and visit FloodSmart.gov for more information.
For help or questions, residents can call a FEMA Map Specialist toll-free at 877-FEMA MAP.
