Authorities Warn Of High-Tech Scams

State and Federal officials are reminding listeners to remain alert for evolving scams, including those that use artificial intelligence and those targeting the elderly.
AI-driven scams have become more sophisticated, with scammers impersonating trusted individuals using fake voices and images.
Seniors are particularly vulnerable, often falling prey to scams involving fake prizes, health products, and phishing emails, resulting in an estimated annual loss of nearly $3 billion.
Text-based scams are also on the rise.
To protect themselves, consumers are encouraged to verify communications and contact senders through official channels when in doubt.
