Family Dollar is closing a number of stores across the country, including one in Reading.
The Reading store is among hundreds of the company’s locations that are being closed.
The local store opened in the fall of 2023 as a combination Dollar Tree & Family Dollar store.
At that time, Dollar Tree was the parent company of Family Dollar, which has since been sold off.
Officials announced the closing of the Dollar Tree portion of the Reading location earlier this year.
The sale, along with the mass closures, is being blamed on changing economic trends.
Plans to close 1,000 Family Dollar stores were announced in late 2023, not long after the Reading location opened.
