Cost Of Thanksgiving Meal Down Slightly

Experts say the cost of cooking Thanksgiving dinner is down in 2025. 
According to the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 40th annual survey, the cost of cooking the holiday meal for a group of ten people averages just over $55 
2025 marks the third consecutive year of price declines. 
Despite the decrease, food costs remain high. 
However, this year’s average cost is well below the record high of $64 in 2022. 
Experts say grocery stores are offering deals to attract shoppers. 
The survey includes staples like stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls, cranberries, and pumpkin pie, with half of the items seeing price declines. 
However, some items, such as fresh vegetables and sweet potatoes, increased in price due to weather-related disruptions and labor shortages. North Carolina, the top sweet potato producer, was affected by hurricanes, which contributed to higher costs. 
Prices vary by region, with the most affordable meal in the South at $50. and the most expensive in the West at just under $62. 
Meanwhile, adding ham, Russet potatoes, and green beans raises the nationwide average to $77.
The survey uses data from all 50 states and Puerto Rico, reflecting current market conditions.
