The Hillsdale County Courthouse lawn will be lit up with Christmas lights this holiday season for the first time in six years.
The Local Eatery and the Hillsdale County Community Foundation are teaming up for a new event called “Light Up the Courthouse.”
Residents, families, and businesses can sponsor and decorate one of the roughly 60 trees on the courthouse lawn for $45. Sponsors will get Christmas lights and a sign with their name on the tree.
Organizers hope to have all the trees decorated by Friday, December 5th, in time for the Hillsdale Light Up Parade on Saturday.
Local businesses are already donating lights and money. Service groups will also decorate memorials and a historic cannon on the grounds.
Listeners can get involved by sponsoring a tree, donating supplies, or volunteering to help install lights on December 4th and 5th.
