Hillsdale is set to receive a $375,000 state grant for road improvements on Industrial Drive. The funds from the Michigan Department of Transportation will be used to resurface the road between Beck Road and Mechanic Street. The project, which also includes replacing curbs and gutters, aims to boost economic development and job creation in the Hillsdale Manufacturing and Technology Park. Industrial Drive is a key route for transporting automotive parts, tools, and other manufactured goods. The total project cost is $644,000, with the city of Hillsdale contributing $269,000 in matching funds. This grant is part of a competitive program designed to enhance all-season road networks in rural areas. Assistant City Manager Sam Fry told WCSR News, the Industrial Drive project is set to get underway in 2027. He said it will further upgrade the Industrial and Technology Park, which saw the resurfacing of Uran Street a few years ago, and will undergo the reconstruction of Arch Ave in 2026.
