Consumers Energy is offering Michigan seniors help with staying warm this winter. The company is reminding residents 65 and older about programs that can lower their energy bills and prevent shutoffs.
The utility offers a Winter Protection Plan from November through March, which protects seniors from having their electricity shut off and helps manage high winter heating costs.
A separate 18-month shut-off protection plan is also available year-round for seniors.
Eligible seniors can also receive a $4 monthly credit on their electric bills for their main home.
More information about the programs, and other ways to save on energy costs, can be found online at consumersenergy.com.
