Winter Storm Brings Wind, Snow And Scattered Outages

wcsr-dale-news-header-2

Windy conditions caused some power issues across the WCSR listening area, Monday.

Consumers Energy reported a handful of scattered outages in Hillsdale & Branch Counties early today.

More outages are likely as the region remains under a Wind Advisory until 7:00 o’clock Monday evening.

Sustained winds of 25-to-35 miles-per-hour are expected through the day, with gusts as high as 55 miles-per-hour.

The high winds will blow around loose items and bring down tree limbs.

Drive with caution, keeping an eye out for downed limbs & wires.

Snowfall combined with the wind has also caused blowing and drifting, creating slippery road conditions across the region.

The National Weather Service has recommended postponing travel until later in the week if possible.

Despite the wintry weather,  southern Michigan was spared the blizzard conditions that struck the western and northern

parts of Michigan. Utility providers are bracing for widespread power outages in several areas of the state.
