Steuben County Officials Asking To Be Included In Casino Discussions

wcsr-dale-news-header-2

A new casino may be in the future for the region, as leaders in Steuben County are asking state lawmakers to include them in the talks about bringing a new casino to northeast Indiana.
According to Channel 21 News out of Fort Wayne, Steuben County Commissioner Wil Howard testified last month at the Indiana Statehouse. He said the county wants to be part of the discussion and believes the area is a good location for a casino, thanks to its position near Interstate-69 and the Toll Road.
Right now, two bills are in the Indiana legislature. One would move the Rising Star Casino from Ohio County to Allen County, near Fort Wayne. The other would create a new casino license elsewhere in the state.
If a casino does come to the area, it would mean new entertainment and jobs, and it’s a topic that’ll be watched closely by residents of Hillsdale & Branch Counties.
