Longtime District Court Judge Has Died

A longtime Hillsdale County Judge has died.
Donald Sanderson, who served as a Hillsdale County District Court Judge for 36 years, died Thursday at his home. He was 80.
Sanderson was appointed to the bench in 1978 and retired in 2014. Before becoming a judge, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and practiced law in Hillsdale.
Over the years, Sanderson had served on the boards of the Hillsdale County Community Foundation and the Kimball Camp YMCA, among others. He served as President of the Hillsdale County Bar and sang with the Hillsdale Arts Choral for over 50 years.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary, two children, two grandchildren, and a sister and twin brother.
A memorial service for Donald Sanderson will be held on February 12th at Hillsdale First Presbyterian Church.
