A Lenawee County teen has been sentenced to prison in connection with the shooting death of his mother’s boyfriend while the two were deer hunting.
19-year-old Trenton Berry, of Rollin Township, was sentenced Friday to 12 to 50 years in prison on one count of Second Degree Murder.
Berry was initially charged with open murder in the death of 41-year-old Kirt Stubbins, of Addison, during a November 2023 hunting trip in Rollin Township.
The incident was reported as a possible hunting accident.
However, after further investigation, the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department determined the shooting was intentional.
Berry agreed to plead no contest to the reduced charge of second-degree murder in November of last year.
