The Branch County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a crash involving a scooter and a car that claimed the life of a Coldwater man.
Deputies were dispatched to North Union City Road near Narrows Road around 12:45 pm Thursday.
They say the scooter, ridden by a 60-year-old Coldwater man, was traveling southbound when it was struck by a vehicle driven by an 89-year-old Coldwater resident.
Emergency responders from Life Care Ambulance and the Coldwater Fire Department attempted life-saving measures at the scene. However, the scooter operator died from his injuries. The driver and passenger in the car were not injured.
Investigators say weather conditions were a possible factor in the crash. The Branch County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Michigan State Police Reconstruction Unit, is continuing to investigate the incident.
