A former Hillsdale County man will spend a minimum of 19 years and eight months in prison on Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges dating back more than two decades.
60-year-old Vincent Payne, of Valrico, Florida, appeared in Hillsdale County Circuit Court on Monday, where he was sentenced to a maximum of thirty years in prison on one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree.
Payne was found guilty of the charge during a January Trial in Hillsdale County Circuit Court.
According to the Michigan Attorney General’s office, Payne was living in the same home as the victim, who was under 15 when the assaults occurred between 2004 and 2008.
The crimes came to light in 2010, when Payne was initially charged. He fled the state.
Payne was extradited to Hillsdale County last year by the U.S. Marshals Service as part of Operation Survivor Justice.
He was given credit for the 300 days he’s already served in the Hillsdale County Jail.
