With less than two weeks until the official start of Spring, the Tri-State area remains in the grips of a drought that has affected the region for some time.
According to the US Drought Monitor website, much of southern Michigan is experiencing “abnormally dry” to “moderate” drought conditions.
Eastern Hillsdale County is listed under moderate drought conditions. The western portion of Hillsdale, along with most of Branch County, is “Abnormally Dry,” which is the least intense drought condition.
Meanwhile, northern Ohio and northeast Indiana are experiencing some moderate to severe drought.
The impact of last week’s rain remains to be seen, as the condition report is updated weekly.
The seven-day forecast does include some rain and snow showers.
