A former Hillsdale County resident has been extradited to Michigan in connection with sexual assault charges that were filed last year.
58-year-old Kevin Murphy is charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 2nd degree, involving a person under 13.
Murphy is accused of sexually assaulting two young victims. The charges were filed in October of last year by the Hillsdale County Prosecutor’s Office.
Murphy was taken into custody in Kentucky last week. He was brought back to Michigan and lodged in the Hillsdale County Jail on Saturday.
His arrest and extradition were coordinated through Operation Survivor Justice. The effort is a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Its goal is to find and return fugitives wanted for sexual assault cases.
Murphy is lodged on a $200,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear for a Probable Cause hearing in District Court on March 25th.
