wcsr-dale-news-header-2
Two people were injured Saturday night after their car struck a deer in Kinderhook Township, according to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of Allen and East Southern roads. Deputies say 19-year-old Jackson Handshoe, of Fremont, Indiana, was driving a red 1985 Chevrolet Corvette north on Allen Road when a deer stepped into the path of the car.
The impact caused the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a nearby ditch.
Handshoe and his passenger, 19-year-old Hailee Ridgway of Coldwater, were treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries.
They told authorities they would seek further medical treatment privately at Cameron Hospital in Angola, Indiana.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Lakeland Fire Department, Michigan State Police, and Lifecare Ambulance.
