Voters in Hillsdale County approved three local school millage requests on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, proposals in Branch and Jackson Counties that affected Hillsdale County residents had mixed results.
Voters in the Hillsdale and North Adams-Jerome School Districts easily approved renewals of their operating millages.
The vote for a replacement millage in the Reading Community School District came down to fewer than 40 votes, as it passed 298-yes to 264 no.
In Jackson County, a $14.8-million bonding proposal for the Columbia School District passed by 75 votes, 1,269-yes to 1,194-no. The numbers included one “Yes” vote in Somerset Township.
A $3.9-million facilities proposal in the Hanover-Horton School District, which includes portions of Moscow and Somerset Townships, passed by 591-yes to 517-no.
In Branch County, the $60-million bond proposal for the Quincy School District failed by a wide margin–1,165 no to 483 yes.
Tuesday’s results are unofficial until the Hillsdale County Board of Election Canvassers meets to review the results. That’s expected to take place on Thursday.
