An Adrian woman is facing a murder charge after allegedly intentionally overdosing a family member in hospice care on Monday.
Adrian police told News 4 in Detroit that officers responded to a home on June 8 at around 1:30 p.m. for a reported civil problem or unwanted subject. When they arrived, officers spoke with several witnesses and
learned that a hospice patient, Frances Stewart, 61, had died in the home.
Witnesses told police that Frances was intentionally given an overdose of medication by a family member. Virginia is accused of removing Frances’ oxygen mask and administering an overdose of morphine to the hospice patient. She was arrested and charged with open murder. She was arraigned in court on June 11 and was given a $2 million bond. Virginia is scheduled to return to court on June 18 for a probable
cause conference.
