A widespread Monday night power outage left customers of the Hillsdale Board of Public Utilities in the dark before utility crews successfully restored service early this morning.
The blackout began around 11:00 pm, when the BPU suffered a system-wide failure.
According to company officials, the outage occurred after the utility lost its incoming transmission feed from the Moore Road Substation.
Crews worked to bring the city’s internal backup power generation online, as BPU officials coordinated with Consumers Energy to repair the main incoming transmission line.
Power was fully restored to all affected customers just after midnight.
