Crews with the Hillsdale County Road Commission will begin the summer sealcoating program today.
The annual maintenance project will begin on Lake Pleasant Road, between State and North Adams Roads.
Drivers should expect intermittent road closures while the work is underway.
Sealcoating involves placing a layer of asphalt emulsion on the road surface, then covering it with a layer of stone. It’s designed to protect the pavement surface, fix minor damage, and extend the overall life of the road.
Crews will sealcoat a number of area roads as the program progresses through the remainder of the summer.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead, use alternate routes when possible, and slow down when traveling near active construction zones.
