A Morenci man, whose three sons went missing nearly 16 years ago, is due back in court this week, as the murder case against him progresses.
53 year-old John Skelton is scheduled for a preliminary exam in Lenawee County District Court, beginning Monday, on three counts each of Open Murder and Tampering with evidence.
The latest hearing is expected to take several days, as prosecutors work to prove there’s enough evidence for the case to proceed.
Skelton served a 15 year prison sentence for three counts of unlawful imprisonment related to the disappearance of his sons Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner over Thanksgiving weekend in 2010. The boys were 5,7 & 9 years-old when they disappeared. They have not been found. A court declared the boys dead last year.
Skelton was officially charged with their murders just days before he was set to be released from prison on the earlier conviction.
