Unemployment And Workforce Numbers Down In Late 2025

Michigan’s unemployment rate dropped slightly between September and November, according to state officials.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell by one-tenth of a percentage point to an even five percent.
During the same period, the state’s labor force, which includes all people working or looking for work, shrank by 13,000 to just over five million.
The total number of people working in Michigan is down by more than half a percent since November 2024.
However, the number of jobs in Michigan increased by 3,000 in November. It was the fifth month in a row that nonfarm jobs rose. The biggest gains came in trade, transportation, utilities, and private health services,
Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate increased slightly to 4.6% between September and November.
