Area residents are invited to a community meeting this week to learn about renewable energy projects and the laws and regulations affecting those projects in Michigan.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Plaster Auditorium in the Searle Center at Hillsdale College.
The meeting will focus on how large solar, wind, and battery storage projects are coming to rural Michigan. Organizers say it’s important for residents to understand how land use, local control, and property rights might change before decisions are made.
The meeting will be hosted by NoSolarFayette, a group that has been outspoken about the 1,350-acre Heartwood II solar installation, which has been proposed for Fayette Township. Organizers say, “Many townships are being approached, and most residents don’t realize how renewable energy projects work until decisions are already in motion.”
According to an announcement issued Friday, the meeting is intended to help residents become informed early so they can ask good questions and be prepared.
