Authorities have made an arrest as they continue their investigation into the disappearance of a Lenawee County woman who vanished after falling overboard during a boating trip in the Bahamas last weekend.
56-year-old Lynette Hooker, of Onsted, was reported missing by her husband, 58-year-old Brian Hooker, on Saturday night. According to the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, the couple was traveling from Hope Town to Elbow Cay in an 8-foot dinghy around 7:30 p.m.
Police said Lynette reportedly fell into the water while holding the boat’s keys, leaving the vessel stranded. Strong currents reportedly swept her away before her husband lost sight of her in the dark.
Brian Hooker told investigators he paddled the small boat to shore, reaching a boat yard around 4:00 am Sunday to alert for help.
The Associated Press reported that Brian had been arrested. However, authorities didn’t immediately release a name after saying they were questioning a suspect who was in custody.
