Residents across Michigan will see low-flying helicopters overhead over the next six weeks..
ITC, the company that operates the area’s high-voltage power lines, announced it will conduct aerial inspections of high-voltage power lines.
Inspections in Hillsdale, Branch, and Lenawee counties from May 27th through May 30th, and again from June 12th through June 17th.
The flights are part of a larger statewide safety check running through the end of June.
The helicopter patrols help ITC find damaged or worn equipment before it causes power outages. Crew members will also look for trees and bushes growing too close to the wires.
Officials say the inspections are required to make sure the electrical grid stays safe and dependable.
