One man is in the hospital, and another was jailed on felony charges following an assault in Branch County’s Kinderhook Township early Monday morning.
Branch County Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls about a fight in the 300 block of Southern Road around 12:30 a.m.
Investigators found that two men were involved in the altercation. A 64-year-old man from Kinderhook is accused of attacking another man with a weapon.
The victim was rushed to Insight Coldwater Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
As part of their investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant for a home on Huss Lea Lane, where they looked for evidence related to the assault. The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to the Branch County Jail on felony charges.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Coldwater Police Department.
The incident remains under investigation.
