16th District State Senator Joseph Bellino has been recognized as the most conservative member of the Michigan Senate for 2025, according to the Capitol news organization MIRS.

Bellino received the distinction based on his voting record during the 2025 legislative session. MIRS reported that Bellino voted in line with conservative principles on 44 out of 46 key votes, a 96% success rate.

In a statement, Bellino said that he has worked to promote conservative policies focused on fiscal responsibility, protecting taxpayers, and strengthening the state’s economy.

Bellino narrowly surpassed fellow Republicans Senator Thomas Albert of Lowell and Senator Michele Hoitenga of Manton, who both had conservative voting records on 42 out of the 46 sampled votes.

Bellino was named the third most conservative in 2024, when 17th District Senator Jonathan Lindsey, of Coldwater, was named the top conservative.
