Clerk’s offices across Hillsdale County will hold special weekend hours Saturday to accommodate voters ahead of Tuesday’s school-related special election.
Under Michigan law, municipal clerks must be available for at least eight hours during the weekend prior to an election to assist with absentee ballot requests and voter registration. Most local offices will open on Saturday to allow residents to pick up, fill out, or return absentee ballots in person.
The May 5 election features ballot questions for several area districts, including Hillsdale Community Schools, North Adams-Jerome Public Schools, Reading Community Schools, and the Columbia, Hanover-Horton, and Quincy districts.
Election officials remind voters that all absentee ballots must be received by the local clerk by 8:00 pm on Election Day to be counted. Those not using a mail-in option can cast their ballots at their regular polling locations on Tuesday.
