Fayette Township residents, as well as officials from across the county and state, are expected to attend this evening’s meeting of the Fayette Township Planning Commission.
The Commission will discuss a controversial plan to build a large-scale solar farm on 1,300 acres in the township.
Tonight’s meeting was initially scheduled for January 5th. However, it was rescheduled to the auditorium at Jonesville High School after a large turnout forced the postponement of the meeting.
Ranger Power currently operates solar farms on several hundred acres in Fayette and Allen Townships.
Many township residents are concerned about how the most recent proposal will affect property values and the environment if it moves forward.
A large crowd packed the Fayette Township Board Meeting last week to voice their opposition to the plan.
