A Georgia man is scheduled to be in court Monday to face continued prosecution on sexual assault charges stemming from alleged incidents that occurred more than 17 years ago.
62-year-old James Carter is charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st degree, along with two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes.
Authorities say Carter sexually assaulted a minor and approached another victim inappropriately in 2008.
The Hillsdale County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office first charged him in August 2011.
He’s scheduled for a pretrial hearing in Hillsdale County Circuit Court.
Carter’s extradition was part of Operation Survivor Justice, a collaborative effort involving the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Office.
He remains lodged in the Hillsdale County jail on $100,000 bond.
