A large turnout is likely for this evening’s meeting of the Fayette Township Planning Commission.
The Commission is expected to continue discussion about a proposed 1,350-acre solar installation when they meet at 7:00 pm in the Jonesville High School Cafetorium.
The project has drawn criticism and concern from area residents, as well as local officials and those from across the state.
Tonight’s meeting will be held at the Cafetorium at Jonesville High School.
The Fayette Township Board, last month, appointed Jared Jordan to the Planning Commission. The appointment restored a quorum, allowing the Commission to deliberate about the solar installation, after two members recused themselves because they have a financial interest in the project.
Ranger Power currently operates solar farms on several hundred acres in Fayette and Allen Townships.
Many township residents are concerned about how the most recent proposal will affect property values and the environment if it moves forward.
Officials say they plan to create an ordinance governing renewable energy installations before moving forward with the approval process on the most recent proposal.
